The Petty family from Randleman, North Carolina has had a profound impact on the NASCAR circuit. The Petty‘s have made the biggest venue in stock car racing, Daytona, their personal playground. Lee, the family patriarch, won on the sands of the Daytona Beach and Road Course in the mid 1950‘s. With his son Richard the duo took on Bill France‘s Daytona International Speedway in 1959 with spectacular results. But an accident nearly took the live of Lee Petty. Richard, however, became the most successful driver in the sport‘s greatest race. He won the Daytona 500 a record seven times over a period of three decades. The team also won the race with Pete Hamilton. But Richard has been there from the beginning of the track‘s history. His son Kyle earned a pole position there in the 1990‘s. Kyle‘s son Adam raced at the speedway and so did Adam‘s cousin Ritchie. Ritchie‘s dad was Maurice who was a Daytona 500 winning crew chief. Maurice has other sons who are mechanics and crew members on racing cars. The Petty‘s make a great story and their exploits are remembered in this book.
